Dry Hands vs. Moisturized Hands: Finding the Right Balance
Did you know that the condition of your hands can affect the quality of your fingerprints?
Many people assume that dry hands are the problem and that applying lotion right before an appointment will help. In reality, both extremely dry and overly moisturized hands can make it more difficult to capture clear fingerprint images.
Very dry skin can cause fingerprint ridges to appear faint or incomplete, while freshly applied lotion can leave residue that makes it harder for the scanner to capture sharp detail.
The best fingerprint results typically come from hands that are naturally hydrated and free from lotion, oils, or sanitizer at the time of your appointment.
Before you arrive:
If your hands are very dry, apply a small amount of moisturizer a few hours before your appointment.
Avoid applying lotion immediately before fingerprinting.
Make sure your hands are clean and completely dry when you arrive.
A few simple steps can help improve fingerprint quality and may reduce the chance of needing your fingerprints retaken.
At Trusted Identity Partners, we're committed to making your fingerprinting experience as smooth and efficient as possible.
